In the summer of 2010 I was given an opportunity to develop my writing through the writing of small notes and letters to a group of 15 families.
One element that was missing were unique note cards that had flare and sophistication but didn't automatically scream 'Thank You' or were so stuffy and formal that they couldn't be used for everyday encouragement.
I scoured through stationary sections of stores and although I found some pretty cool options, there was still something that wasn't quite to my complete satisfaction.
Being an occasional Etsy junkie I spent many hours looking through the samplings available there and began to develop ideas of how I could incorporate fabric patterns with card stock.
There were many options available for unique designs and colors were endless. It added a flare that paper on paper couldn't and I could also mix textures.
With a little help from my sister who sews and quilts to figure out the best process of attaching the fabric to the card stock StudioKG Mixed Mediaphors was born.
Some are funky, some are just plain weird, and some ended up being not-quite-epic fails - but what might not be to my total liking could be perfect for someone else.
It became a minor obsession for me where I would stay up until the wee hours of weekend mornings to finish but my excitement and passion for the design process grew.
All the card sets in the gallery are available for sale and if a design catches your eye but you'd like to see a variation of it please contact me. I love the brainstorming and fabric search process and would be happy to create some prototypes for you.
